A GERMAN DUEL.

Baron von Richthofen has been cpurtTuartialled and sentenced to two years' imprisonment in a fortress for duelling with fatal results. Tho Court held that the conduct of his opponent in the duel, Lieut, von Gaffron, was not unimpeachable, and that ho did not act as a gentleman in the loan transaction, which led to the encounter. In a forest on the outskirts of Berlin Lieutenant Wilheliu von Gaffron, a retired officer of the Potsdam Guards, was killed at dawn on May 11 by Lieutenant Baron Oswald von Richthofen, of tho Reservo Corps of 2ml Uhlan Guards, and son of tho late German Foreign Secretary. After killing his antagonist Baron von Richthofen surrendered to his regiment, the uniform of which ho woro during tho combat. Tho duel took place with the approval of a military "court of honour." Uniformed officers officiated as seconds and witnesses. The combat was waged under the deadliest conditions by the express wish of the contestants, both of whom were expert with the pistol.
