ALLEGED OPERATIONS IN NEW SOUTH WALES. Br feleeraDh-Press Associatlon-Couyriilii Sydney, July 20. Mr. J. L. Treiie, Acting-Minister for Agriculture, in a speech referring to the Meat Trust, said there were- shipments already on t'lie water.for England belonging to a trust which had £10,000,000 »t its back. In spile of every statement to the opposite, ho knew thero was a great American Meat Trust at work in our midst, and ho intended to lot tho trust know that wo were wide awake, and would take such steps as would enable us to snap our fingers at any trust'. Besides tho shipments made, the Minister declared that large fiuantitics cf meat had been secured in Sydney. The Stato Government was aware that no stono was being left unturned to prepare the way for a solid base of operations for the trust in Australia, particularly in Sydney. He had much information which he could not now use without prejudicing the interest of men tho Government wished to protect. Tho Government, Mr. Trefle said, was steadily preparing to meet the situation, and was taking steps for preventing any combine from preying upon the producers. A Royal Commission would deal with the operations of the trust.
