SIE J. CARROLL'S VISIT TO WAAHI. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Auckland, July 20. The "Mana" Committee elected by tho Natives present at the gathering now in progress at Waahi held its first meeting on Wednesday 'alight, under the presiclency of Mahuta. Everything, it was stated, was ready for tho visit of tho Acting-Prime Minister (Sir Jaiiies Carroll), and it was anticipated that the majority of the parties interested in the Kchemo for the partition of their lands would bo present at Saturday's meeting. Mahuta. will detail tho history of the various conferences, explain the wishes of tho Natives, and enunciate the general linos of policy proposed. Mr. Honaro Kaihau will follow with an enumeration of the many difficulties that surrounded the alienation of Native lands, and propound his ideas of the manner in which theso obstacles to settlement might- be overcome.

Business in connection with the meeting was resumed to-day, when Messrs. Knihau, Kent, and others wero present. Tho work consisted in going over 21 blocks, comprising an area of between 40,000 and 50,000 ncrcs. While- one- committee was doing their work in one place, the opposition, which consists of Messrs. Pepa, Kirkwood, Eangikatitea, Tohikuro, Tarawhiti, and Keri Toko To Ahu were busy in another, engaged in preparing a report for presentation to the ActingPrime Minister when ho arrives at Waahi.
