HOUSE OF LORDS CRISIS.

MINISTERIAL PLANS. BATCH OF FIFTY NEW PEERS TO BE CREATED. A CRITICAL OCCASION. By Telegraph— Press Association—OopyTiEht (Rec. July 1!), 0.25 a.m.) London, July 18. It is staled that tho Government has prepared a list, of 350 new Poors for tho purpose of swamping the llouso of Lords. Fifty will bo created in lho first instance if tho Parliament Bill is sent down to the llouse of Commons with amendments. Much comment has been caused by the issue of a'whip by Lord Morley, Lord President of the Council, in view of tho third reading of tho Parliament Bill, in which tho fact is emphasised that momentous results aro involved, both immediate and future, making tho occasion truly critical. Owing to somo fifty of tho Opposition Peers privately declaring their determination to vote against the third reading of the Parliament Bill Lord Morley is apprehensive lest tho Bill shall bq defeated by a minority of Unionists through abstentions on tho Government side. Lord Lansdowne, Leader of the Opposition in the Upper House, is anxious to pass the Bill as amended. Lord Morley is also anxious to pass it to enable the House of Commons to reject the amendments made by the House of Lords.
