TURKISH TROOPS AAIBUSHED,

A Mussulman clan which Djavid Tasha disarmed and ill-treated, hut subsequently re-armed against the Catholic Malissori clan, ambushed Edhom Fa?lia*s column near Ipek, in tho vilayet, of Kossovo. Two hundred Turks were killed or wounded. Edhem Pasha was wounded in the arm. The Mussulman Albanians in l'erisovitcli, Frishtina, Mitrovitza, Kumanosa, and Ipek have joined tho Catholic Malissori. Torgut Pasha, tho Turkish Commander-in-Chief in Albania, caused somo Mussulman Malissori at Koplik to be arrested and killed in the belief that they were Christians.
EARLY SETTLEMENT DESIRED. BRITISH MINISTERIAL STATEMENT. (Rec. July 18, 11.30 p.m.) London, July 18. Mr. M'Kinnon Wood, Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, in reply to a question in the House of Commons by Mr. James Hope, Unionist member for Central Sheffield, said the Government was most anxious from every standpoint, including that of the Ottoman Government itself, for the Settlement of the Albanian troubles on liberal and generous terms. Any prolongation of the disturbances would cause grave' anxiety among the Powers desiring to see the strength and credit of the roTte established and peace secured in the Balkans.
