SHOT DEAD IN THE STREET.
A MYSTERIOUS TRAGEDY. By XclccraDh— Vfeu Associßtion-OoDyrluh* Sydney, July 17. A mysterious tragedy is reported to have occurred in Scott Street, Newcastle, yesterday, when a man named Charles M'Guire, alias Michael Daley, was shot dead in broad daylight. Nobody is known to havo witnessed tho occurrence. Thomas Jones and Georgo Smith, who were standing near by. have keen arrested on a chargo of vagrancy. Another man, owner of tho revolver from, which tho shot was fired, states that Jones nud Smith visited him for a. irink. Ho afterwards uiLssed.tho revolver. Vhlcii was subsequently found on the footpath near tho deceased, Smith, and his companion.
