To-day the Acling-Prinie Minister, Ihc Hon. J. A. Millar, the Hon. Ci. Fowlds, the Hon. T. Mackenzie, the Hon. A. T. Ngiitn. and the Hon. D. Buddo will he in Wellington, and the Hon. H. M'Kenzie on the West Const. The Hon. 1(. M'Kenzie is expected back from the West Coast to-morrow night. The Hon. G. I'owlds returned from Auckland yesterday afternoon. Cable news has been received that Mr. Justice Cooper arrived at Avonmouth (England) from New Zealand in the steamer Kent on June 21. Our W.mganui correspondent states that Archdeacon Jacob, for the last three years vicar of Christ Church, Wanganui, has accepted the position of tho vicar of St. Mary's, Tiiuaru, and leaves foiv his new charge at the end of the vear.
News arrived by cable on Saturday that Mr. Donald Wilson, of Wellington, had passed his final medical examination at Edinburgh University. Mr. Wilson is 22 years of age and is a native of this city. Ho is tho third son of Mr. Goo. Wilson, of tho firm of Messrs. Aitken, Wilson and Co. Educated at Wellington College Mr. Wilson went to Edinburgh, five years ago to study medicine and surgery. Ho had a. successful career as a student at tho famous Scottish University mid has now been selected as ono of the junior surgeons in the Edinburgh Infirmary. Dr. Wilson will probably visit his relatives in Wellington next year.
Tho J{«v. Thomas Spurgeou's health, according to latest information from England, has recently 1.-een showing marked improvement,. and he has not only been ablo to take active part in the direction of Stockwell Orphanage and Pastors' College affairs, but is accepting more preaching engagements in London. He is seriously considering the rjuestion of reestablishing his homo in London—perhaps near Wimbledon. Mr. Spurgcon is wellknown in New Zealand, having been for some years pnstor of the Auckland Baptist Tabernacle.
. The. funeral of tho late Captain R. A. Edwin took place yesterday morning, tho Anglican Bishop of Wellington (Dr. Sprott), by Archdeacon Fancourt, officiating at tho graveside nt Karorl lhc chief mourners were Mr. Lcslio Gorton, Dr. Harding, and Dr. C. Hording. Among thoso present were Mr. Geo. Allport (Secretary for Marine), the Rev. D. C. Bates, Sir. Andrew Wylio (president), and tho directors of the Wellington Bowling Club, Captain Post (of the Tutauekai), Captain Johnson (harbourmaster), and representatives of several Government Departments, and the Northern Bowling Association. Amoiifr tho wreaths were tributes from tho "Wellington Bowling Club, Northern Bowling Association, the operating staff of the Telegraph Office and the Wellington Homing Pigeon Society.
