No. 1 gro'und at Day's Bay was not in tho best of condition, hem; soft and bumpy, which at times was, perhaps, tho cause of players failing to stop the ball. From the "bully" Karori broke away,, but lieid found the lino. Collcgo then worked play down tho line, and tho ball was sent, into the circlo to Salek, but a chance was lost by that player being offside. From a free hit play was removed to half-way, and, from a lino out, Hall sent tho ball on to G. Davies, who, howover, overran it in the College twenty, five, and tho latter cleared. From a fret 'hit, College now worked into the'Karori twenty-five, where L. Danes secured tin ball, and relumed it to his forwards, but they failed to keep it through Putnam being too slow, ami College rushed play down tho field, but could not break through tho Karori defence. The Karori forwards, through, tho agency of G. Davies, retaliated by carrying play into tho Collego circle, where Roid (a promoted junior, whoso defence all through the game was sound) saved by finding the line. Karori continued to press, and Elias sliifted play into the circle, but his other forwards failed to make use of tho opportunity, tho ball going behind. The College backj now moved the venue into the Karori half, but could not break through the opposition, and Elias (right wing) presently brought play back into College territory, and then sunt the ball across tho goalmouth.,, Murphy, however, bcing-|too slow to make use of a good opening. G. Strack broke away, .but Campbell stopped his progress, and 'Karori once again pressed, but the forwards failed to stop the ball in the circle. Murphy then sent a long pa« across the field, and Elias had a shot, th« goalkeeper saving by; kicking behind.. ColIcse'now took a turn, and attacked, but C. Davies proved a hard man to pass. Salcfc came down on the wing, and centred, and Fitt found the net, but was penalised for being oflsido. College presently had two or three good chances, l>ut their shooting was very erratic and the Karon goalkeener had very few direct shots sent in to nil, Eventually the Karon forward, organised a passing rush, but Held once again turned them.back, and the College forwards tried individually to score, but Campbell and C, Brj cs always managed to clear.
