ROYAL COMMISSION SITS. (By Telegraph.—Special Corresponflent.l Sydney, July 14. The Parliamentary Select Committee appointed to inquire concerning the Australian Jockey Club and its relation to racing, has held its first meeting. Tho members of the Commission asked Mr Thrower, the chairman, what prompted him to ask for the Commission. Before replying, the chairman ordered the press representatives to withdraw. Mr. Cropper, tho club's secretary, will bo examined at the next sitting. Tho Commission adjourned for a week.
