A lively quarter of an hour occurred at tho Wanganui Education Board meeting last evening. After the chairman (Mr. F. Mr. Pirani said that the Marton peoplo had helped to got their school, but tho Patea peoplo had done nothing, and in reply to further remarks by Mr. Dixon, the chairman dubbed tho latter "tho most parochial man lie ever met." Mr. Dixon said that this r/as untrue, whereupon Mr. Pirani ordered a withdrawal, saying that he did not mind being told that he was wrong, but he objected to be virtually called a liar. Finally oil was poured on tho troubled wnters, and the chairman said that he had no idea of .side-tracking Patea, only Marton deserved first consideration. The rest of tho board taking the same view, tho chairman's scheme was adopted.
