TERRIBLE DISASTER.
TRAIN LEAPS EMBANKMENT. By Tclecrash-Prcas Association-Oopyrieht New York, July 12. Particulars of the disaster to the colonial express on the New l'ork, Newhaven, and Hartford Railroad show that the train struck a switch when travelling at the rate of sixty miles an hour, and leaped over an embankment. Five. Pullman cars, a (lay coach, and a baggage car crashed into the streets of Bridgeport. Twelve persons were killed and fortyfour injured. A young machinist named King, was driven insane by the accident, although otherwise tminjiircl. The train was late, and the engineer was endeavouring to make up for lost time. The day coach was smashed to matchwood. Everyone on board the train was cither killed or injured.
