A CHARGE WITHDRAWN.
"SOME MISUNDERSTANDING." (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Christchurch, July 13. Mild surprise was created at tbo Police Court this morning, when Stanley Tar-, rington, a. man respectably known from one end of the Dominion to the other, stepped into the dock, on tho information of George Burns Cromb, charged with intent to defraud by obtaining from Cromb J27 7s. by means of falsely representing that he was tho authorised agent of Sir Kenneth Douglas. Sir. Cassidy. who appeared for accused, said the case had arisen out of some, misunderstanding. Parriugton had to collect money in connection with tho Sheffield Choir programme, and Cromb had apparently thought ho- wasnot entitled to do so. As scon as tho squabble had arisen, tho money had been paid back, ond it was .simply now a question of accounts. He, therefore, asked that Iho charge lie withdrawn. Chief Detective Bishop agreed to this. Jlr. Noave, who appeared for tho prosecutor also agreed, provided the nionev had been relumlcd.
Mr. Cnssidy gave this assurance, and Iho Court agreed to the withdrawal of (ho charge.
