TO-DAY'S DINNER.
(Specially written for Tub Dominion.) THURSDAY. Scotch broth. Jugged rabbit. Fotatocs. Vegetable marrow. Boiled rice and pruues. SCOTCH BROTH. Two pounds neck of mutton, one- quart of cold water, one carrot, half a turnip, one onion, thrco tablcspoonfuls of pearl barley, half atablespoonful chopped parsley, pepper and salt to taste. Cut the mutton up into small pieces, put it into a saucepan with the water, and bring: to the boil slowly. Skim. Cut tho vegetables into dice and add them and the barley. Cook gently 2J hours. Season to taste and serve. Sorag end of mutton is suitable for' this dish. ' FOR TO-MOEItOW. Half a pint of lentils (soaked overnight), stock, fish for fish pudding, two dozen oysters, suot, raisins, SOCIAL AND PERSONAL Wedding at Palmerston, At AH Saints' Church, Talmerston North (telegraphs our Palmerston correspondent), a pretty wedding was celebrate ed, when Mr. William Anderson, third son of Mr. and Mrs. William Anderson, of Fitzherbert Terrace, was married to Miss Etty Isabel Lancaster, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Lancaster. Tho bride, who was given away by her father, wore a pretty cream silk radianta dress, with silk lace and pearl trimming, and a veil and wreath of orange blossoms. The chief bridesmaid was Miss Jessie Lancaster (cousin of tho brile), .who wore a cream cashmere frock trimmed with cream lace and corded silk, and a black hat with pink roses and tulle. The other two bridesmaids, Miss Miriam Lancaster and Miss May Lancaster (sisters of tho bride), were in cream radianta frocks, finished with ribbon and Valenciennes lace, and large cream hats trimmed with silk to match. Tho bride and bridesmaids carried beautiful, shower bouquets. Mr. Hugh Lancaster was the best man. The bridegroom's present to tho bride was a gold bangle, and to the bridesmaids handsome gold brooches. A reception was afterwards held at Dustins Ltd., where a. ■large number of relations and close friends of the bride and bridegroom sat down to the wedding breakfast. The toasts of Mr. ' and Mrs. Anderson, the bridesmaids, and the parents of the bride and bridegroom were duly honoured. Both were the recipients of n great number of valuable • presents, and carry with them the hearty wishes of a very large circle of friends for their future happiness. An Acknowledgment. A Lecture upon "Teeth." very interesting lecture was given in tho. classroom of the St. John Nursing Division on Tuesday evening by Mr. W. If. Didsbury, who took as his subject Teeth and their Care." There -was a good attendance, and the greatest interest was manifested throughout the course of tho lecture. Mr. Didsbury urged upon those present the importance of attending to the teeth of children even at tho earliest age. Much of what was said was in accordance with the view; expressed at the sittings of the Deiital Conference and has therefore been published. At the close of his address a hearty vote of thanks was proposed and carried. "Girls' Realm Guild." An entertainment was given on 'Tues™y *™ D B by members of the Lady Plnnket Centre at the. Home for Aged and Needy. Musical and elocutionary items were, given, and light refreshments provided by the guild. Among those who went out were: The Misses Hamilton, Oicken, Dimant, Edwards, Muller Wright, O'Reilly, and Mrs. Willis. They wero assisted.by the Misses Culverwell, I'ullerton, Hrmsley, Edwards, and Copo!and. The entertainers were accorded a hearty vote of thanks at tho conclusion. On Tuesday' afternoon, at St. Augustine's Church, Napier, the marriage was celebrated of Miss Marv Alexander Mitchell, second daughter of the late Mr. Alexander Mitchell, to Mr. 1 Horace Edgar Bourgeois, third son of the late Monsieur Edmund Bourgeois. Canon Tuke performed the ceremony. The bride wore a cream cloth costume, with a large cream velvet hat, and was attended by her sister, Miss Miua Mitchell, as bridesmaid. Mr. Arthur Bourgeois was the best man. Members of the Pioneer Club are reminded that in regard to the coming annual meeting of members of tho club, notices of motion must be sent in by July 15, and nominations for the incoming committee by August 1. Miss Brooks, from Bristol, England, who has been touring New Zealand, is at present in Wellington, and is tho guest of Mrs. Francis Stevens, Oriental Bay. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Blair returned to Wellington, by the Ulimaroa yesterday from' a holiday spent in Sydney.
Miss Margaret Lambio lienwick, recently appointed chief instructress of the domestic department of the Auckland Technical College, was a passenger by the Corinthic on Tuesday. Mrs. A. R. Hislop is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Francis, in Masterton. A bazaar in aid of the Normal School was opened in the Sydney Street Hall yesterday afternoon by Mr. J. G. W. Aitken. Mrs. John-Scott, of Tala'vera Terrace, returned on Wednesday from a visit to Sydney and Melbourne. Mrs. Louis Blvmdell was the hostess at a very enjoyable tea given on Tuesday for Miss Vera Fulton, who is to be married nest week. Mrs. J. H, Williams, of Havelock North,*and her four (laughters, have arrived in town. Mrs. Williams, accompanied by three daughters, leaves by the Athenic for England to-day. Mr. C. J. Wray. of Wanganui, was married to Miss Ada Wray, daughter of the late Lieut.-General Edward Wray, on May 24, at Holy Trinity Church, Bromp-1 ton, England. j The death i? recorded at Auckland of Mrs. Eva Forbes, wife of Mr. William Forbes, of ,N.ew Plymouth, and formerly of Newtown (Wellington). The interment will take place at Karori to-morrow. The now artificial lace that has been creating alarm among the manufacturers of Lyons, Calais, and Caudry is simply a moulded fabric of celluloso. While very beautiful, this product is less combustible than ordinary lace, more durable, and unaffected by water. Mi's. Womvss, who has been staying in Auckland for some days, left for Sydney on Monday. Miss Daisy Reilly (Hawera) is visiting Wellington, and is staying at "Keniiworth." Miss Williamson, of Ilawera, is in town for the Dental Conference, and is staying at "Kenilworth." Mrs. 11. F. J.
