Mr, luiox, counsel for tho colliery proprietors, again monopolised tho whole day in tho hearing of tho Coal Vend case with tho continuation of his address. He quoted figures to show that tho prices charged to consumers in Australia and other parts of tho world where conditions were not affected by the Coal Vend wore approximately equal. Tho Australian prices, therefore, could not be called excessive. A rise from ten to eleven shillings a ton was not to the detriment of the public as was proved by tho fact that trade increased in greater proportion than before. No witness had stated that trade was hampered by the prices charged,
