I At noon live of tho contestants woro still aloft. last year's balloon race for the Gordon Bennett Cup was held in October, and resulted in some remarkably lone flights. The balloons ascended at St. Louis on October 17, and the winner, the America 11, came to earth at Lako Tschotogama, Quebec, Canada, after having covered 1355 miles in 15 hours 44 minutes.
