PROPOSED CLYDESDALE SOCIETY.

SOME OBJECTS TO BE-ATTAINED..'. The proposal to form u New Zealand Clydesdale Society was brought under the notice of tlio.'i'ininrii A.,and P. Association ou Saturday by a letter from tho Otago Association. The letter stated that it.was'tho-general feeling of these, at tho .meeting convened for the purpose in Dunediii that the splendid market that Ims been opened up in Australia for j\'ow Zealand draught horses was in danger of being closed to us by reason, of the inferior animals, stallions, and marcs especially, that have been shipped to the' Commonwealth and represented by un■seruptilous dealers to be purebred Clydesdales. Iu 1887, the breeders in the >loine Country, finding that the foreign markets were being closed to them as the result of similar unfair, trade, formed for their own protection a society of the- same character ns that now proposed, and if the same thing could be dons here,-it was thought that the result would be.of as great advantage to tho stud masters of this country ns it had been to those engaged in the industry of Britain. The. objects of the Home Clydesdale iSociety are: (I) To maintain unimpaired the purity of Clydesdale horses in the 'Homeland. (2) To collect and publish the pedigrees of stud horses, and establish a proper Clyde-dale Stud Book. (3) To promote the general interests of the breeders and owner?, (t) To inspect suspicious and doubtful pedigrees and other alleged misrepresentation.- (.')) To arbitrate and ■settle disputes among breeder?. (G) To ijiiako by-laws for regulating the proceed'ings and conducting the business of the society. (7) To raise and manage funds, and generally to do all things conducive to the attainment of the above objects.
