Those members of the Sheffield Orchestra who wont from Wellington returned yesterday, and wera present, nt. the: usual woekly practico last ovoning, were wel-. corned by a few wetl-chospn words Mr. Maughrm Barnett.—They-all-seem, to have enjoyed their trip, especially in the South Island, as that :part. was not so hurried, and all speak of the tour as an experience to be looked back?upon with the greotest pleasure; Dr. Coward being a conductor under ■whom it; is ait. honour Ito play. Mr. Maughan Barnett has-now-got the. orchestra once more in full last ovtining was very profitably spent rehearsing the first-class programme arranged for the next concert. A very pleasing and encouraging ltom of nev/s was mentioned. A Well-known London firm of publishers, having evidently heard of tho establishment of tho Wellington Municipal Orchestra, has forwarded Mr. Maughan Barnott, with their compliments and good wishes, some good music for tho HbraTy-a gift which is highly appreciated.
