EARTHQUAKE IN HUNGARY.
TOWN BADLY DAMAGED. TERRIBLE PANICS. MANY INJURED BY FALLING WALLS. By TalcEraDh—Press Association—Oopyriftul (Roc. July 11, 0.10 a.m.) ; Vienna, July 10. Three shocks of earthquake/ occurred in. twelve mimitcs at Kecckkement, doing damage to the extent of .£IOO,OOO. , No building iu the town is intact. Many persons woro injured by collnp. sing walls, mul several women went mad, and had to bo taken to the asylum. A fissure has opened the ground outside the town, and there havo been emission* of hot mud and sulphur elsewhere. A peasant and his nine children were killed. Little damage has been done- at Budapest. There was a- great panic, aud thousands rushed inlo the streets in night attire and gazed at the houses, expecting them to topple. Many persons spent the night in tha streets. The inmates of the asylum became frenzied, and fearful struggles with the nurses took place. Many of the patients wero put in straight waist coats. STATION AND BARRACKS FALL, OTHER BUILDINGS DAMAGED. Budapest, July 9. The earthquake at Kecskemet, fifty miles south-cast of Budapest, caused tin '. station and barracks to collapse. The town hall, law courts, aud theatre are seriously damaged.
