It is believed that tho Laurier Government has decided to hold tho general elections on tho Reciprocity issue in October. A definite statement is expected when Parliament re-assembles. AN AMENDMENT DEFEATED. Washington, July 9. Senator Cummins's amendment to the Reciprocity Bill, proposing the placing of Canadian iron and steel products, flour, lumber, coal, leather, and woollen and cotton goods on the free list, was defeated by 32 voles to 14.
