Association met yesterday to make a, selection for tho vacant secretaryship. Three applicants—Mr. L. W. Harlcy, of Christclmrch; Mr. H. P. Gibson, of Oauiaru; and Mr. P. W. Penny, of Pacron, Auckland—were left in tho running after the last meeting, and theso yesterday met tho committee. . Mr. Penny was finally appointed.. Tho new secretary has had cxpcricnco in commercial aud agricultural life. Ho was, for some years, in (ho offico of Ihcßesv Zealand Loan and' Mercantile Agency' Co. in Auckland, and, latterly, has been in business as an accountant in Paeroa.
