OROUA COUNTY COUNCIL.
ordinary meeting of the Oroua County Council was held yesterday. Present: Councillors W. 6. Pearce (chairman), J. H. Vincent, 11. liedniayne, Hugh Burrell, and J. Morrison. Tho Woodville Borough Council forwarded a cheque for ,£124 10s. 4di, being tho. balance due on account of the erection of tho Gorge Bridge, and regretting delay. Tho Woodville County Council forwarded cheque for .£166. The Minister for the Interior wrote re tho council's application for a subsidy towards establishing an artesian water supply at Bunnythorpo, stating, that tho Government did not consider that tho above-named would be altogether a suitable object for tho commemoration of the Coronation of His Majesty King George .V, and could.not therefore undertake to grant .tho'subsidy. Tho council w ; as advised that Bunnythorpe residents had decidod to endeavour to rniso sufficient money to carry out tho schcrao with tho assistanco of the Oroua and Manawatu Councils. .The council decided to request the Minister 'for Railways to repeal the charge of rato'anda half on imported hardwood timber, where used by county councils for bridges and culverts. The treasurer reported the bank balances as follows:—General account, ('• .£2012 Is. sti; gorge bridge account, dr.. .£324 15s. 4d.; interest account, cr., ,£226 lfis. (id.
