DONALDSON UNABLE TO START. By Telccraph—Press Association—Oopyrirhl (Rec. July 7, 3.30 p.m.) Sydney, July 7. The weather is doubtful for tho 130 yds. world's championship contest between J. Donaldson, A. B. Postle, C. E. Holway. and A. A. Taylor, which will be decided at tho Royal Agricultural Society's Ground to-morrow, in conjunction with tho Newtown v. South Sydney competition match in tho second round of the Rugby Leaguo premiership. Donaldson, the holder of the championship, has strained a sinew, . and will bo unable to compete. Postle, Holway, and Taylor have decided to run. They claim that the championship is involved. Tho four celebrities of the runningtrack, wrote tho Sydney "R-efcree" last week, aro in splendid form, J. Donaldson and A. B. Postle being exceptionally keen, and feeling that on the day they will be fit to run for a kingdom. Tho American believes that ho will be in' better form than when ho last met Donaldson, and expects to surprise a few people. Don-, aldson may be seen every morning at the Agricultural Ground preparing for the contest. Postle is doing his principal work at tho Sports Ground, and varies it with a visit to tho hot sea-water baths at Manly. Holway . trains at Metiers' Sports Ground. LAWN TENNIS. In the semi-final, Doust and Mrs. Chambers beat Ward and Miss Coles, 6-1, 6-2. (Rec. July 8, 0.15 a.m.) London, July 7. In the finals in the All-England championships, Roper Barrett beat Dixon 5—7, 4-6, G-4, 6-3, 6-1. De Cugis and Gobert beat Parker and Hardy, 6-2, 6-1, 6-2. THE DAVIS CUP. (Rec. July 8, 0.15 a.m.) London, July 7. Mr. Dunlop, in a letter to tho "Sportsman," bitterly complains of the All-Eng-land Lawn Tennis Association's treatment regarding the Davis Cup. He says Australasia's position is unique. Britain does not want to finance the British team to take the cup from Australasia.
