Palmer, a well-known resident of Palinerston, who is stricken with an attack of typhoid fever at Launceston, has suffered a relapse, and his condition is causing his friends anxiety. • Messrs. Court. The electoral census was started here to-dav, six men being engaged in tho work. Thero was a good attendance at tho annual meeting last night of the Jlanawatu Officers' Club, nail Lieutenant-Col-onel Pringle occupied the chair. The following officials were_ elected for tho y«ir:—Patron, Lord Islington; president, Colonel \V. C. Chaytor; vice-president, Lieutenant-Colonel D. Pring'le; committiv. Captain Warden, Lieutenant J. T. Bosworth, and • Lieutenant 'Willoughbv; hon. secretary, Captain L. V. Trask;' lion, treasurer. Captain S. .lickeli; librarian, Captain "WhaHey; auditor, Lieutenant Allan. A number of new inemlwrs were elected. It was decided to hold meetings fori nightly, and Colonel Chavtor is to lx> asked to give the openin" lecture. The committee will meet shortly, to arrange the syllabus. Caplain Trask was, for three years, secretary of the Garrison Officers' Club at AVelJington, and intends to do his best to push tho local club along.
