In No. 1 block two slopes are in progress. The reef has improved, now showing good mineral indications. Four slopes are in progress in No. 2 block, and a few strong colours of gold have been seen. In No. 6 block the reef in the two slopes is of fair size and encased in good country. At tho 300 ft. level three stopes are being worked in No. 2 block. Saxon.-Tho contract for 500 ft. extension of the crosscut at 1000 ft. will all be in Saxon ground. The new contractors have started work. Thero is every appearance of a change for tho better, as thero is nicc white ground on the right hand sido of the drive. This is cutting across the face at a long angle, and the supervisor thinks a. few more feet should reach first-class country. Kilvorstream.—The drive and leading slope on the Julia reef has been advanced a. further seven feet. When the, lode was broken down some very rich ore came to hand, and it still shows good at the face. Four tons of ore were obtained; also 21cwt! of nappod ore. The rise on Corbett's reef has beoii advanced <ught feet. The reef still maintains its width of eight feet, and small bands of rich ore are mijed all through it. Twelve hundredweight of verv good stone has been got from both walls. All the ore (barring coarse boulders) is being paddocked for treatment, and 20cwt. is napped ready for bagging.

Mountain King.'—The_ low level contractors completed timbering up to the face, and have driven loft, during the week, making a total of about 190 feet off l.lio Mountain King boundary. The two stopes being worked about 30 feet below the smithy level (on ton) continue to give ore of good grade. The battery is working smoothly on ore of verv fair grnde obtained from stopes and surface works.
