OPENED AT TE HOEO. Members of the Eoman Catholic community at To Horo have, with assistance from Otaki, established a church in their district. From the- initial move—only a few months ago—littlo time was lest in getting in subscriptions, and, in record time, almost enough money wns given 'for-' tho building, besides whicli'labour was also offered. Sunday wns fixed for the opening day, and, although the weather was far from favourable, the building was filled with residents of Te Horo, while a fair number also attended"from Otaki. Mr. George H. Harper presented the address of the people to his Grace Archbishop Kedwood, and Mr. Pohaitara,. of Pukekaraka, extended greetings in the Kntive tongue, Mr. Harper being interpreter. The Archbishop stated he was grateful for the address and welcome, and, after congratulating those responsible for the erection of the church, proceeded to bless and consecrate it It is to bo known as The Sacred Heart Church. M.i?s was then solemnised, the service bein;,' an impressive one, while the singing was a feature, Miss Quill presiding at the organ. The Archbishop then delivered an able and eloquent address to those about to be confirmed. The confirmation subsequently took place;-the Rev. Fathers Cogent and Melu assisting in this as-well as in the foregoing parts-of the seryiee.
