OVER A TOTALISATOR TICKET.
."TO I?AY FOR HIS MISTAKE.' (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Christchurch, July 3. At tho Magistrate's Court to-day, Arnold Nicol claimed from Harry Turner .€4 13s. valuo of a totalizator dividend, tho result of a 10s. ticket which defendant had agreed to invest for plaintiff at the last race of the (rolling meeting at the l'lumpton l'ark on June 3. Mr. Hunter, for plaintiff, said that the latter had given defendant 10s.'to invest on Little Arthur on the last race. Tho horse won ,and paid a dividend of .£4 13s. Sir. Cassidy, for tho defence, said tha* there was a 'big crush at the totalisator, mid, whilst defendant was getlijig two tickets; a man behind asked defendant to get a ticket for him. Defendant foolishly did so, and passed tho man one of the three tickets which lie got. When defendant went to collect the money, ho found that ho had given away the wrong: tirkel. His Worship held that he was quito rtitisfied that a .legitimate mistake had been made by defendant, but, of course lie would have to pay for his mistake. Judgment would be civeit for plaintiff for 10s.—the price of tho ticket, with costs on that amount.
