PATEENA AND ARAHURA' FOR OVERHAUL.
On Wednesday next the Union Company's steamer Patecua will he placed on the Patent Slip for overhaul. She will be rcS™ i> >: . thc Te A na » i? the Wellington-rvclson-Picton service. The latter vessel is to leave Dunedin on' Monday for Wellington direct, and takes up the running Z, dn^ da ,l at 12 : 45 P- m - 0n completion of the ' Pateena's overhaul, she will relievo the Arahura in the WcllingtonCoast trade for a trip whilst that vessel is being overhauled. The Pateena. leaves Wellington for Picton on Saturday next.
TJLIMAROA A FULL SHIP. TO TJ ' i . s-s., did'not- get away from Wellington for Sydney until eight o'clock laut evening. The vessel was delayed owing to the amount of cargo which had to he slupped. Early yesterday morning M «srs. Huddart, Parker and Co.'s local oraee staff had to refuso applications for berths because the whole of the vessel'e passenger nccomfiodation bad been booked. There are 162 saloon and 184 steerage passengers on board. ■
MANAROA AND MANGAPAPA ARRIVE. Any anxiety concerning tho safety of the steamers Manaroa and Mangapapa ws dispelled yesterday when thc vessels arrived at Wellington. from Motueka and Wostport respectively. The former steamer left Motueka at 8 p.m.. on Tuesday last, and ran into a heavy southerly gale. Captain Hart decided to run for shelter into Cabbage Bay, and was forced to remain there until 8 a.m. yesterday, when the weather had moderated enough to allow him to come on to Wellington, port being made at 1.45 p.m The Manganapa left Westport for Wellington at 2.30- p.m on Monday last, and experienced, in Captain Fletcher's word* dirty weather" on the run up to Cape Farewell. On entering the strait ho experienced the same sort of weather as the Manaroa, and was compelled to seek shelter under Long Island on Wednesday, lhcrc the Mangapana remained until yesterday morning, when "the hook" wa's hauled up, and arnval made at Wellington xrJ; J™'* V )a Mangapana, sails for Westport and Karamea to-day. PARTHENIA'S VOYAGE. «£,™ aUa " St « m ?h'.P Company's chartered steamer Parthenia, which, arrived from Mew/lork, via- Auckland, on the previous evening, berthed at the Taranaki Street Wharf Tbo vessel left New, York on Marcn 29, and immediately ran into a, strong westerly gale with very heavy sea. The weather moderated the following day, and, irom thence to Cape Town, moderate weather was experienced. From the South African port to Albany the vessel experienced the usual kind of weather for this time of the year. After calling at Melbourne and Sydney, the Parthenia cleared the latter port for Auckland on Saturday, June 17, the northern port being reached on June 22. Auckland was left again at /.p a.m. on Tuesday last, port being made at 8.15 p.m. on ThuTsdav. The Parthenia, is under the command of Vaptain J. Whinistcr, who has the following officers associated with him:-Chj e f officer, .Mr. T. Morgan: second, Mr p Mathieson; third, Mr. J. Tulloch. Mr c' Andronicos is chief engineer, Mr. W. Fleming second, Mr. J. M'Donald third, Mr. W Fleck fourth, and Mr. J. Brewer fifth. Mr - G. Shepherd is steward in charge. The Part-licnia sails for Lyttelton and Dunedin this afternoon.

Wymor, mate of the Kapuni, left the vessel at Wellington yesterday, and Mr. A. n. Ward filled the vacancy. Captain M'lntosh rejoined the steamer Kiripaka yesterday after holiday leave. The Marine Department, having considered the evidence taken at the preliminary Inquiry into the recent stranding of the steamer Gertie at Foxton, have decided that no further action is necessary.
