SHEFFIELD CHOIR AND "BINGO."
CORRESPONDENT COMPLAINS. "I candidly confess," says a correspondent, "that I was disappointed at certain numbers programmed by tho Sheffield Choir last eveniug. Not at the manner in which they wero performed, at which there can be no cavil, but at the inconsequential stuff which does not matter being substituted for the really good music, which tho choir must have in its repertoire. It is all very well to havo a smile at the 'Bingo' chorus, but, frankly, that is not the class of music I hope'd to hear from tho choir. It is the one magnificent chance we havo of hearing great works sung as they should be sung, and here We are given 'B-I-N-G-O, 'The Indian Lullaby,' and 'Pan,' when perhaps we could bo listening to "Israel'in Egypt,'. 'The Golden Legend,' and shorter works such as Elgar's T3lack Knight,' and others that could be mentioned. To mr, it is frivolling with a great opportunity."
