AT THE EXHIBITION.
■' • 'A'TALK ON EONTGEN EATS. An. interesting demonstration and lecture on X-Kays was given at tho Exhibition Inst ovening by Mr. \V. H. Buswell, of the City Power Department. Tho lecturer briefly outlined tho history of this wonderful invention, and, in order that lis listeners might bo able to follow'him ■the more clearly, he described in detail each part.'of the apparatus.. A-table of tho comparative density' of various' objects ■was given. Of all uwtals, aluminium ottered the greatest resistance to tho ray?, ■while objects such as wood, leather, etc., were practically transparent. Glass, transparent to ordinary Hpfht. was, strange to say, opaque to tho X-Eays. A number of photographs of objects, such as keys, watches, coins, were then taken through two inches of wood, and, in several cases, numbers of tho audience had their hands photographed. In one instance, the forefinger of- one man's hand was seen to bo fractured. Tho photographs were taken by Mr. Hardio Shaw, and aro on sale at bis studio. The proceeds- of the sales are being devoted to tho Hcpple Belief Fund. - THE ENGLISH PIEEEOTS. It is no exaggeration to say that the English Pierrots aro one of tho principal attractions of the Exhibition. The entertainment which they provide is bright and refined, and contains, in particular, many excellent musical items. , THE BOWLING TOUENAMENT. ' Great interest is being manifested in the tournament which commences at the Stadium to-day. The first games aro to be playtd at 2 p.m., and thereafter there will be now games every two hours, the last game to conclude 'at 10 p.m. . The tounrament .will ]».continued nest sceki
