John Kingsley Wall, who had pleaded guilty oh Thursday to a charge of deserting from the New Zealand Shipping Company's Otaki at Auckland on January 16, was brought forward for sentence. Mr. P. W.. Jackson, on behalf of accused, stated that the latter had good reason for leaving the ship, and had written to the chief officer informing him of his intention to leave. ' A man named Peter Moor, alias Henry Charles Adolphus Williamson, who is at present serving a sentence for vagrancy, pleaded guilty to. a charge of theft, at Te Awamutu, on May 22, of a suit of clothes, valued at .£5, the property of Phillip Peat. There were numerous previous convictions against accused for vagrancy, theft and false pretences. lie was sentenced to: three months' imprisonment; "... NO THREATS HAD BEEN PROVED. Max Deckston-was charged with using threatening,words towards, James Turner,' at Lower Ilut'r, and complainant asked that defendant' be bound over to keep ! the peace.' Air.- Smith appeared for complainant, and Air. C. R. Dix for defendant. When complainant's side of the case had been closed, Mr. Dix submitted that no threats had been proved, and that thero was therefore no case to answer. Tho magistrate concurred in this view, and dismissed the information. INFORMATION WITHDRAWN. Alexander Higgins was charged with being, a rogue and a vagabond in that he was found by night without lawful excuse on promises at 45 Adelaide Road. Sub-Inspector Shcehan asked leave to.withdraw .tho. information .as from inquiries since;made, it had been ascertained that accused had permission to be on. the premises. The information was accordingly withdrawn by leavo of the Court. SHOPS AND OFFICES ACT. James Jl'Donald, licensee of the Albert Hotel, admitted having failed to allow a night porter the fortnightly holiday as required by the Shops and Offices Act, 190 S. It appeared from the evidence that defendant had allowed the porter an "accumulated holiday," but had failed to notify the Inspector of Factories. A nominal fino of 10s, was imposed, with costs 7s. FAILED TO SUPPLY A SUMMARY. For failing to supply a summary and a list of members tor 1910 to tho Registrar of Companies, as required by the Companies Act, tho Union Timber, Sash, and Door Company, Ltd., of Palmerston North was fined £o, with costs 7s. and solicitor's fco .El Is. Mr. T. Ncavo appeared for tho Registrar. A similar information against the Wairarapa Bacon and Freezing Company, Ltd., Carterton, was withdrawn by.leave of the; Court, Mr. Neavc explaining that the company was now practically defunct'. BY-LAW CASES. For driving a vehicle between sunset and sunrise without a light, Fdchard Austin, for whom Air. E. J. Fitzgibbnn appeared, was convicted and discharged. For a, similar offence, Albert Hunn was convicted, and ordered to pay Court costs 75., and a like penally was imposed on Andrew Stafford, who pleaded guilty to a similar offence. For boarding a train while in motion at tho Thorndon Station, William Illingworth was fined 205., and ordered to pay witnesses' expenses 12?., and Court fees lis. Air. E. .1. J'itzgibbon appeared for the defendant.

liichnrd John Tnrr, who was charged with allowing eight cows to wander in the Karon Borough, pleaded not guilty, and was defended by Mr. ]'. W. Jackson. After hearing the evidence his Worship dismissed the information.
