NEW WHARF WORK,
BOATING CLUBHOUSES TO MOVE ON.
A PECULIAR POSITION.
At tho meeting of tho Wellington Ear. bour Board it was decided to carry out certain work in connection with the extension of tho Taranaki Street Wharf and the staging along tho water front in that vicinily. Interviewed yesterday in reference to tho proposed work Mr. Robert Fletcher, chairman of the Harbour Board, slat'ecl that, as a good deal of inconvenience was at present caused by tho isolation of tho Taranaki Street Wharf from the rest of tho board's property, which necessitated a detour being innde by carls, officials, cargo, etc., when tho necessity arose of working tho Tara-nak-i .Street Wharf in connection wilh other wlmrvc.-i, it wan decided in tho interests of efficiency and economy to extend tho Jervois Quay staging from its southernmost end (immediately to the north of tho Naval Star, and Wellington Clubs' Boatsheds along the water-front to tho baso of tho Tnraimki Street Wharf, and nt (ho same time to widen the after structure, to Us full width at the baso « « tranco (now a narrow neck).
