LABOUR AT THE POLL.
4 (By Telegraph.—Special Corrosnondent.l Auckland, June 27. Mr. T. Walsh, secretary of tho Auckland Labour party, has just returned to Auckland from a tour south with Professor Mills, tho American lecturer. Mr. Walsh has boon making'diligent ■ inquiry dliring his travels of tho prospects ol tho Labour party ill so far as tho coming Parliamentary elections aro concerned, atd ho savs that everywhere ho finds tho party conikiont of success at tho polls, it is not intended to put up candidates indiscriminately for every seat, but to concentrate the efforts of tho party to ensure tho return of candidates where there seems a reasonable possibility of success. Christchurch will be tho only city wlicra every scat will bo contested by straightout Labour men, and tho pjrty is very sanguine of success in view of tho big win they recently had in securing the election of Sir. T. E. Taylor as Mayor.. Mr. G. R, Whiting, president of tho Trades Council, will bo one of tlioso offering for election. In Duncdin there will probably be two or three candidates seeking Parliamentary honours under tho Labour banner, and in Wellington there will bo at least one other Labour candidate besides Mr. M'Laren. On tho West Coast the party is preparing for battle, and it is likely that Sir Arthur Guinness will be opposed by a luiight of labour. At Napier Mr. MacKonzie, secretary of tho Drivers' Union, will seek to oust the sitting member, Mr. Vigor Brown. In Auckland it is so far tbo intention of™ Labour party to run only one candidate, Mr. M. 3. Mack, secretary of the Society of Railway Servants, who will contest tho Parnell seat against Mr. I'. Lawry, M.l.
