A GISBOKNE COMPLAINT , (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Gisborno, June 27. A rather unsatisfactory position has arisen in regard to tho employment of labourers 011 the Government works ill and around Gisbornc recently with tho result that there are a number of unemployed about town. It is stated that the Labour Department at Wellington is sending up men for railway works almost every week, and tho authorities here 'are' unable to give them, work, consequently tho men pay their fares from Wellington to Gisborno with the promise of the Wellington Labour Department that they will be taken on at railway works, and when they arrive at Otako (tho terminus) their services aro not required. There arc now, it is reported, about 0 dozen men in Gisborno who have been sent here by tho Labour Department, but work cannot bo found for them.
