THE MISSING BOATING PARTY.
SEARCH CONTINUED. A thorough search of the harbour and (lio water front is being made by the police, in the hope that some trace will he found of Mr. George Hopple and his two .sons, who have bron Missing from Petone since last Thursday morning, when they went out fishing. They wero last seen on Thursday night about a.llfl, between Somes Island and the Hutt River making for the shore. Nothing has been found excepting an nar, which was picked lip o„ Saturday morning in the vicinity of Rocky Point, between Petone and Ngahauranga, and which was afterwards identified as belonging to (he boa 1 .. A cap was also found at about the same spot, but this is believed to belong to a boy who lost it off tho train on Thursday night. Yesterday morning a blade of an oar and a piece of a boat were brought to the Petone Police Station, but it cannot )x> ascertained where they were picked up, nor who brought them. The parties who identified the first oar cannot bo found.
The search is being continued. Constables M'Konzie, Holmes, and Simjison are patrolling the beach from Pencarrow to the Hutt River mouth, and yesterday they searched every nook and corner, but without result. Sergeant Forster is in charge of • tho Petone police party, who arc searching from the river mouth to Ngahauranga.
