THE REFORM CAMPAIGN.
MR. MASSEY REPLIES TO MR. • I'OWLDS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, June 23. Mr. Massey, Leader of Ihe Opposition, opened his campaign in his own constituency this evening at Pukckohe, and received" a cordial reception. Mr. Mastoy replied to tho speech giv-°n from the same platform by the Hon, G. Fowlds a few weeks previously. Ho dealt with the statements of Ihe Minister in favour el single tax, which ha strongly condemned, saying it was cither robbery or insanity. He said Hint Mr. Fowlds had been utmost as misleading in his remarks on land valuation as on other subjects. In many cases tho valuations were too high, but by using figures that wore five or six years old Mr. Fowlds had presented (ha position in a more favourable light. During his journey through tho Dominion he (Mr. Massey) found that a great majority of the people were in sympathy with the Opposition, for thev realised it was doing the best for the country. 'J'lio Opposition endeavoured to secure clean, honest, and economical administration.
