OTAKI ITEMS.
On Tuesday afternoon Bishop Sprott conducted a confirmation service at the Xative Church, when some seventeen.candidates (prepared by the Kev. ,i. A. M'Mickle) ottered, themselves. The ceremony—the first conducted by his Lardship in the Otaki parish—was an impressive one. On Tuesday evening some eleven candidates (prepared .by the Eev. Mr. Smith) were confirmed.
The postponed annual general meeting of the Horonhenua Horticultural and Industrial Society was held on' Monday night, when there was an attendance of tifteeit members. The President (Mr. \V. H.'Simcjx) occupied the chair. Thn following ollkers were duly elected-.—Presi-dent, Mr. W. H. Simcox; vice-presidents, Messrs. 11. Froeman and C. L. liartniatm; General Committee, Misses Freeman, Powell, Eva Judd, and Coekrell,, Messrs. H. Coekrell, -11. Small, 00. Powell, V. Melrose, W. Warn, P. Taylor, L. Kjhnister (two other gentlemen were defeated on a ballot being taken); hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. Frank Penn; assistant secretary, Mis. P. Froaman; auditor, Mr. •P. Freeman; District Committee: Levin. Mesdames W. M. Clark, H. Ansticc Mr. P. W. Goldsmith; Wereroa, Mrs'. I!. Prousc'i Ohau, Mrs. L. Arcus; jlanakau, Mesdarocs C. Nccs. W. Bull, J. Hurlev: ObW Gorse, Mr. P. R. Mills; To, Horo. Mrs. Gillies. MiVs Best Messrs. \V W. Wcstaway, and G. W. Kirk; kanae, Mesdames L. Freeman and G. Tnlly. Mr. S. Duncan; Keikoraum, Mr. W.
