There is talk in Government circles indicating tho probability of the naval headquarters being removed to Auckland in about a year's time. Admiralty House, tho residence of tho Commander-in-Chief of the Imperial squadron, will then revert to tho State. This is considered to be a suitable residence for tho GovernorGeneral, and will possibly bo so arranged. Tho Lord Mayor, Alderman Taylor, promised a deputation of representative citizens to-day that lie would call a public meeting to discuss tho Stato's proposal to deprivo tho Governor-General of his present Sydney residence. The proposal ha* aroused much hostility amongst tho supporters of tho Opposition.
