NEW MARKETS FOR DAIRY PRODUCE.
POSSIBILITIES OP EXFANSION. Mr. Mitchell, principal of one of the largest dairy produce firms (outside of London) in Great Britain, who has been in Australia for the past three months making arrangements ior opening up new business between colonial cheese, butter, and bacon companies, and the headquarters of his own firm at Ayr (Scotland), believes that he will succeed in doing so. "We have unlimited markets for Australian dairy produce in Glasgow and other large Scottish centres," he remarked to an interviewer. "In Scotland we get from London only the rag-tag of colonial imports. London firms take great exception to the accuracy of this statement, but, nevertheless, it is true. You may think in Australia that once you land your produce in London you have done all that is needed. That is a mistaken view. What you want in addition to existing facilities is a cargo service to the Clyde, to Liverpool', or some other port from which your produce can easily reach the great manufacturing and thick-ly-populated centres in Scotland, and also in Belfast and the east coast of England. There you will find splendid markets."
