CITY ADORNMENTS.
POST OFFICE STATUARY. The new Post Office in Wellington is to be ornamented with pieces of statuarv. including a group by the English sculptor, Mr. Alfred Drury, A.R.A. Mr. Drury's group represents two female figures "sitting with their backs to a pillar supporting a globe. One figure holds aloft a bronze model of a locomotive, and tho other a model of a sailing ship. . The group represents the transport of mails over tho world by land and sea. The base of the set of figures will cover fifteen feet, and height will lie six feet six inclioß. The centre piece will rise nine feet above the balustrade. The figures will be sculptured out of Portland stone, and tho cost, delivered in Wellington, will bo ,£I2OO. Two other figures, to flank the central group, will be supplied by Messrs. AV. Parkinson and Co., of Auckland. One figure will represent telegraphy, and ihe 0U12; postal delivery. These'figures will cost_ .£.5(10 each. Tho work is to bo done in New Zealand.
