ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
INQUEST AT THE MORGUE. ■ Tho. City Coroner (Dr. A. M'Artlmr, S.M.) held an inquest, at the- morgue yesterday morning touching the death of Samuel Ballance, .who expired on the footpath near Lambton Station on Monday afternoon, after being removed from a tramcar. Sergeant Eyons represented the police. Evidence given by the tram officials Was to tho effect that deceased boarded a tramcar at AVallace Street shortly after 3.30 p.m. AVhen the car was passing along Jervois Quay, it was noticed thai his head had fallen on his chest, and he made no response when shaken by the conductor.- The car was hurried to Lambton Station, and deceased was still breathing when removed to the footpath, but lie had expired when Dr. Collins arrived there three minutes later. Sergeant Lyons stated that there were no marks of violence on the body. A verdict of "deatli from liatnral causes" was returned. ' CHILD DROWNED. (By Telegraph—Prefti Association.) , ■ Tailiape, June 13. The four-year-old son of -Mr. David M'Kay, a farmer, residing near Mataroa, was missed at 3 p.m. yesterday. A search was commenced, and continued through the night, the body being found this morning in a swollen creek. It is supposed the child attempted to cross over on a plank, and fell in, (lie body being carried down a distance of half a mile. ,
