Gaptnin and Mrs. Terris, of Ciisborne, with Miss Ferris, left for Sydney where they are taking up their residence, on Saturday morning. On the previous evening a large and representative gathering had met to bid farewell to Captain i'crris and to present him with a purse of sovereigns as a token of the best wishes from his many friends for his happiness and prosperity in his new home. On behalf of the veterans, Captain Tucker read an address and presented Captain ■Ferris with a fine travelling bag and rug. A letter from the Hon. James Carroll, referring to the great .service done tho colony in the early days of it's history, was also read. The late Mrs. Bryce had a large circle of friends, and the announcement 1 of her tragic death, which occurred in Vfanganui on Friday, was a great shock to them. She was tho widow of the late Jlr. Charles C. Bryce (son of the lion. John Bryce) and tho sister of Mrs. John Duthie, junior, and Miss Rogers, of the Land and Income Tax Department". She left five children, the eldest being sixteen years of age. She was born in Queenstown, New Zealand. The engagement is announced of 'Miss B. Tho "Standard" says that she has every prospect of a highly successful career—l'ress Association. The mixed foursomes competition held 011 Saturday was won by Miss Didsbury and L. S.
