HAWKE'S BAY A. & P. ASSOCIATION.
THE YEAR'S 'WORK. One of- the most interesting discussions at the annual meeting of the Hawke's Bay A. and P. Association wilt be that concerning th» question of a new ground. The annual report states that the membership receipts show a slight falling-oft. tho amount . received being ,£lll3 as against £1134 last year. The importance of a good membership as regards saving the society from loss and causing widespread interest is urged. The financial results of the year's working were satisfactory. It has been decided to write off the whole amount spent in improvements to the members' enclosure during tho year, viz., ,£250 9s. 9d. After allowing for this sum and the usual depreciation 011 buildings, plant, and librarv, a net profit is left of .£lB3 Gs. 7d. ■At the last committee meeting the. report was approved, and, on Mr. Baxter's motion, it was decided to add the following:—"The growth of population in Hawke's Bay and tho consequent increase in the ]iumb?r of visitors to our showground will, in n few years, necessitate larger grounds and more convenient arrangements. Your committee consider that it would be wise to anticipate this necessity by acquiring and planting a suitable ground in order that it may be ready when required."
