ENTHUSIASM IN SYDNEY. OVERSEAS CHOIR TO GO TO LONDON NEXT YEAR. DR. HARRISS'S LATEST PLAN. By Telesraph— Press Association— Copyriebt (Rec. June 13, 0.30 a.m.) Sydney, Juno 12. The Sheffield Choir received an enthusiastic welcome on its arrival in Sjdney to-day. Seven steamers, conveying members of various musical societies, tho Yorkshire Society, and the Citizens' Committee, and with tho Acting-Premier, Mr. Ilolman, and Dr. Harriss, promoter of tho Choir's tour, aboard one, met the Zealandia at the Heads, to the strains of band and vocal music. The incoming liner was then escorted to the wharf, where, in the presence of a demonstrative gathering, Mr. Holman formally greeted the members of tho Choir. f Sixty motor-cars, provided by the Automobile Club, conveyed the members of the Choir to their hotels. Subsequently, at the Town Hall, the Lord Mayor (Jlr. Allen Taylor) and Mr. Holman 'officially received Dr. Harriss and Dr. Coward (conductor of the Choir). In the evening the Choir was entertained at a conversazione by the Philharmonic Society. The bookings for the opening concert to-morrov? are a record. Dr. Harriss, in an interview, said ue hoped to have a choir in London next year composed of Canadians, Australians, New Zeolanders, and South Africans. FINE SINGING AT BRISBANE. Brisbane, June 12. Members of the Sheffield Choir include Lady Norah Noel, a daughter of the Earl of Gainsborough. A featuro of Saturday's concerts was the superbly just intonation and the remarkable manner in which the pitch was kept. All the items that were unaccompanied were characterised by clearness of enunciation and dramatic intensity.
