SORTING OF CARGO.
♦ NEW CHARGE BY SHIPPING COMPANIES. By TelceraDti—Press Association—OoDyrtebt (R-ec. June 12, 0.45 a.m.) Sydney, June 11. As tho result of a complaint that master carters have difficulty in getting the delivery of goods from the deep-sea wharves owing to their being dumped out of tho steamers in confused heaps, tho shipping companies havo decided to undertake the sorting of the goods. They have in consequenco notified importing consignees that nil cargoes landed in Sydney, ex steamers dispatched from Europe on or after April 1, will bo sorted, and a sorting charge imposed, ranging from bid. to B}d. a ton. Tho bulk of the importers are strongly opposed to the new regime, and are arranging a meeting of protest.
