The monthly meeting of the Hutt River Board, which was. to have been held last evening, was postponed until next Thursday, as a mark 01 respect to Mr. It. The monthly meeting of the Lower Hutt Fire Brigade was held on Wednesday night, Captain Slinn Presiding. The tender of Mr. G. The secretary was instructed to call the Borough Council's attention to the fact, that several doors in certain public'buildings'opened inwards instead of outwards, and also to point out that tho fire-escapes and exits in tho King George Theatre and St. James s Half were (in tho opinion of the brigade) inadequate. An invitation from tho Gear Company's brigade to attend a card party was accepted. A further meeting of the committee (which is nesirous of holding a massed ceremony on tho Petone Recreation Ground on Coronation Day) assembled at the Mayor's room at Petone Inst night. The Mayor (Mr. J. W. M'Ewan), who was in tho chair, mentioned that replies from , all friendly societies as to whether they would take part or not were not to hand. It was resolved, on tho motion of Mr. Kirk, that the question of ft procession be held over. The matter of drawing up a programme was left in the hands of the chairman and the local clergy.
