POSITION AT WAIHI. MEETING OF THE UNION THE DEMANDS. WHY THEY WERE REFUSED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Wnihi, Juno 8, A special general meeting of the Miners' and Workers' Union to consider tha delegates' report in connection with llio recent conferenco between tho mining companies and the union was held last night. Tho president stated that the whole question would be dealt' with by tho Executive of tho Federation, and that, by (ho companies not meeting the union in t'heir demands, it might mean a trouble that would alfeet tho wlioln of tho Federation workers of New Zealand. A resolution was carried to the effect, that the question bo referred to the: Executive. Mr. Scrapie, in addressing tho mcet-i ing, said tho matter would bo dealt witlii exhaustively by tho Executive, but llinti nothing would be done without consult-! ing tJic Waihi Miners' Union. Mr. Scmplo and Mr. l'arry (president! of the Miners', Union) and members of I the Executive left for Wellington this! morning, ami the Federation meets oni Sunday next.
