The President of the Tramways Employees' Association, after a visit to the various States, asserts that there is general discontent among tram employees over a wide area, and that if a strike docs occur it will affect the whole of Australia. In order not to interfere with the comfort of lady members, the Straw-hat Workers' Union adopted a self-denying ordinance prohibiting smoking during meetings. The Customs Department has decrced that sugar-growers employing aboriginals must pay them the sanio wages as paid V> whites. BRISBANE GASWORKS STRIKE. Brisbane, June 8.
