THE CORONATION.
PROCESSION ARRANGEMENTS. ORANGEMEN INVITED. Delegates representing different friendly societies and sports bodies met in tho Mayor's room last night to further tho arrangements for the Coronation procession- In tho absence of the Mayor (Mr. Wilford), tho chair was taken by Mr. J. K. rainier, Town Clerk. The meeting passed a resolution oxpressing sympathy with the Mayor in his illness, and hopes for his speedy and complete recovery. Mr. W. Perry reported that the clubs in the Wellington Rugby Union were disinclined to take part in the procession. Only t\yo—Athletic and I'etone—had replied, and they -were against it. Ho thought tho reason was that footballers did not care to remain in their football costumes for so' long a timo when not playing. After some discussion, it was agreed that the footballers could parade in ordinary clotliin;*, and carry a bannerette or wear colours. Mr. l'erry thought this could bo arranged. It was understood that the two hockey associations and the Football .Association would take part in the same way. The Cricket Association wrote that it would probably be unrepresented as this was the off-season. Promises to take part were received from most of the local friendly society lodges and other bodies. Tlio Protestant Alliance Friendly Society wrote that as most of their younger members were in the volunteers, and would parade as such, and most of tho others were members of the Orange Institution, they thought it would be inadvisable for the society to parade as a lodge, but most of the members would bo present in other ways. They hoped the procession would be a success. Captain llall, who has been appointed as marshal of t'he procession, explained that the military would parade at liucklo Street and march from the Drill Hall at 10.45 to Newtown Park, which tlicy would reach at 11.15, and they would take up their positions at 11,30. The Governor would arrive at 11.55. A salute would be fired, the troops would be reviewed, and there would be a niarch-pa-t. Speeches would be delivered by the Governor or his representative, and by the ActingPrime Minister and tho Mayor. Tho "Old Hundredth" would be suns, and the troops would march back to Ruckle Street. The procession with which that meeting was concerned would have t'o fit in with' the military arrangements, and lie would ask them to decide whether they would assemble near the Basin Reserve, or at some distant point, in order to join tho military on their march to the park. On arrival at the nark, the troops would, occupy the whole front of the ground, on the west side, and there would bo places on the raised ground on tho west side, for the persons invited. _ He had secured a rrood place for the friendly societies on tho raised ground, facing north, who™ they would get a good view of the proceedings. It was resolved, on Captain Hall's suggestion, that tho Tiroeession should rendezvous in Cambridge Terrace at 10 a.m.. and that each of the various bodies should appoint a sub-marshal; also that the procession should di'band at the park after the proceedings there. It' was. resolved to send invitations to the Orange Institution and the Good Templars asking them to take part ill tho procession. In regard to tho order of tho procession it was decided to place tho Navy Leaguo juveniles first, tho Boy Scouts next, then the friendly societies, and then ■the sports and other bodies; tho Salvation Army, with its band, to be placed where the band would Ire of most Advantage. The order of the rest of the procession was decidcd by lot as follows.—..Tramway Benefit Society, Hibernian Society, British United Oddfellows, Fnrest;er,s, Independent Order.,of Oddfellows, ..fcjns and Daughters of 'temperance, Manchester Unity Oddfellows, Rceiiabites, Druids. Orange Institution. Good Templars. Hockey Association, Rugby Union, Football Association, Lncrosso Association.
Further arrangements were left in tlio hands of Captain Hall and sub-marshals to be anpointcd by the different societies and bodies taking part'.
