DAIRY EXPERT FOR LONDON.
GOVERNMENT SENDING ME. GWILLIM. Following upon tlio decision of Cabinet to appoint Mr. W. K. Gwillim as the Now Zealand representative to watch the country's dairy produce interests in Ensland, some particulars of his career may ho of interest. For ten years, up to 1892, Jlr. Gwillim gained business experience in Tooley Sheet, London. He came to New Zealand and started in the dairy industry,, at tho Edendale dairy factory, Southland, in September, 1892. He was thore for two seasons, and was taught chccse and buttermaking by the then manager, the late Mr. Thomas Scoular. From 1891-5 ho was manager of Messrs. Henry Reynolds and C'o.'s factory at Tauranga, Bay of Plenty. From 1895-9 ho managed Mr. Georgo Chirnside's cheese and butter factory at Werribec Park, Victoria. He returned to New Zealand in 1899, and for a season was with the Fresh Food and Ice Co.. Wellington, as butter-maker. From 1900 to 1907 ho was manager of tho Eltham Co-operative dairy factory, Taranaki. In October, 1907, lie joined the Government service. He visited England in IS9B and in 190G, on the last occasion via the United-States and Canada. Jlr. Gwillim joined the State service in October, 190", and is at present the chief grader at Wellington. Ho has also acted as an instructor in the .service. Mr. Gwillim's headquarters will .bo in London, but his duties will extend to tho Wes-t of England ports.
