The balance standing to the credit, of profit and loss is os. Gd.. a net 'profit for tho year of .£307 "s. 10(1. "The membership has increased during the year from 115 to 137, an increase of .22 .members for the year. Two members of yoitr Executive visited Auckland last' September and met delegates from the Auckland factories who unanimously agreed to support your Association, on condition I hat an office be opened in Auckland and thai Auckland bo represented by two members on -tho Executive. Messrs. A. C. Hubbard, of the Th-im-js Valley Dairy Company, and W. Sprang, of tho New Zealand Dairy Association, were nominated to the Executive. >sr. An office has been opened in Auckland and a resident representative appointed. The offico is being much appreciated and it is hoped that all Auckland factories will avail themselves of this advantage. "Thirty-five factories availed themselves of the cheaper rate of marine insurance through your association. The total value of tho produec insured for those factories was .£479,950. The rat' 6 charged was from 3s. to Is. per cent cheaper than was being paid by factories insuring outside the association. Taking an average of 3s. per cent a saving of ,£719 17s. was effected by the above thirty-five factories. Your Executive nrgc all members to take advantage of insuring through the association, either in connection with nroducc shipped or .cover required on factory buildings and plant. Factories may take advantage of the marine insur.•neo irrespective of tho firm to whom their produce is consigned, and it is hoped that the number of factories taking advantage of the cheaper rate will bo largely increased during the coming season. "Complaints in connection with our choeso have been conspicuous by their absence. Mr. .T. G. Ifarkness w:\s granted six months leavo of absence in December, and has visited London and other ' centre?. Tho-address which he will deliver at the Conference in Palmerstnn should be full of interest. The Wellington Meat Export Companv wore approached'.it the bejnnning of f-lio season with view to sccurin™ a reduction in the charge made for freezing butter at Wellington port, with a result that for tho present, season factories have onlv been paving s'd. per box instead of fid. As- the Meat Export Company pay all' wharfage ami other charges between the store and the steamer, the prices compare favourably with charges made at other ports.
